“Correlation of Breast Cancer Angiogenesis and Lymphangiogenesis

with the rate of Contrast Enhancement on Dynamic Breast MRI.”

(MSc Surgical science, UCL 2005-2006) – A novel marker of lymphangiogenesis D2-40 was compared to LYVE-1. It was found to be superior to the latter at immunohistochemical detection of tumour related lymphatics. A significant correlation was found between contrast uptake on MRI and intra and peri-tumoural lymphangiogenesis (p < 0.05).

Newspaper columns Published:

    • To determine the operative outcome of Carpal Tunnel Release: 74 patients were retrospectively analyzed over period of 7 months. Reduction in severity of symptoms (pain, paraesthesia and numbness), risks of superficial and deep wound infection and nerve injury were assessed. We took into account clinical signs (Phalen`s test and Tinel`s test) and pre-operative nerve conduction studies. The audit pointed out that documentation, especially of post operative symptoms and signs were not sufficiently done, therefore, an idea to use questionnaire was suggested. In addition a need for a long term follow was felt to assess thenar atrophy and grip strength.
      • Antibiotic prescriptions for sore throat: a clinical audit in primary care setting in a low-middle income countryaccepted as an abstract at The Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Society of Pakistan MMIDSP conference held from 27th -29th May 2021 – original article published in 2022.

      • To assess treatment regimens used for acute gout in patients attending Primary Healthcare Centre: A retrospective audit of 6 months (May 2014- Nov 2014) was carried out to find which analgesia was prescribed and to provide evidence-based recommendation for treatment of acute gout. Out of 122 patients who presented with joint pains 27 had hyperuricaemia. The audit identified that 37% patients with acute gout were prescribed allopuranol whereas 15% were given opioid analgesia.

    • To assess the practicality of one -stop haematuria clinic in identifying the presence of significant urological lesion: A total of 42 patients with urological symptoms mainly haematuria who underwent clinical examination and investigations (urine testing, flexible cystoscopy, US KUB & IVU) were evaluated retrospectively. 5 out of 42 were found to have bladder cancer.
